Annandale Sailing Club is a small friendly club situated on the small historic Castle Loch in Lochmaben. Lochmaben has links to Robert the Bruce and the Wars of Independence. It may only be 150 acres (in old money) but it can provide both sheltered waters for the nervous beginners and an interesting test for those who appreciate the subtleties of inland racing. In either case, it’s a most beautiful place to be at any time of the year.
The club’s main activity is dinghy racing and there is a vigorous programme of training geared to getting sailors to a high level of local and national success. However, with activities on four days of the week in summer and sailing all the year round there is plenty of opportunity for the more relaxed among us. In fact, some just come for the social side.
One of the club’s main enthusiasms centres round its RYA Learn to Sail and Sailing for All programs with members who are RYA qualified instructors devoting time on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings in the spring and early summer. There are also more structured courses during the school holidays; click here for details.
The Club, has great facilities catering for dinghy sailors, racing, cadets and plenty of social activities. we have a thriving laser fleet, as well as, Optimists, Toppers, GP14, Mirrors and other boats including Blaze, Wayfarer and Picos.
We organise regular racing and training during the week; Tuesday is training and Thursday and Sunday dedicated to racing. As well as sailing the club is always a hive of activity with on and off water events such as lots of impromptu BBQs in summer months and other social events throughout the year including our annual December prize giving event, all with an emphasis on sailing, bringing the members together and lots and lots of fun.
Annandale prides itself on being a friendly, sociable and family friendly club and we would be delighted to see you and for you to become part of our great club.
