BREAKING NEWS

Solo Scottish Championships results here.

Annandale Sailing Club is situated on the small historic Castle Loch in Lochmaben with its links to Bruce and the Wars of Independence. It may only be 150 acres (in old money) but it can provide both sheltered waters for the nervous beginners and an interesting test for those who appreciate the subtleties of inland racing. In either case, it's a most beautiful place to be at any time of the year.

The club's main activity is dinghy racing and there is a vigorous programme of training geared to getting sailors to a high level of local and national success. However, with activities on four days of the week in summer and sailing all the year round there is plenty of opportunity for the more relaxed among us. In fact, some just come for the social side.

Members sail all sorts of boats. At the top of the pictures on the right is the club's main two-handed boat, the GP14 and below it is the Laser, sailed at the Olympics and also as the most common single hander at Castle Loch. If you're really crazy, hang off a wire trapeze in a Cherub although our water is just a bit tight for one of these perhaps. We've also got Solos, Mirrors, National 12s, a Finn, a Phantom and a variety of others. The club's own fleet, available for members to hire, consists of GP14s (a stable boat with a surprising turn of speed), Toppers (the definitive youth boat but exciting enough for adults), the Topper Taz (a bang-up-to-date "whizzy" boat for two youngsters) and Oppies (similar to Optimists and suitable for smaller kids).

Joining us is easy; just click here to find out how. Finding us couldn't be easier either; just click on this link for directions and maps. See Who's Who for contact details.

One of the club's main enthusiasms centres round its Learn to Sail and Sailing for All programs with members who are RYA qualified instructors devoting time on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings in the spring and early summer. There are also more structured courses during the school holidays; click here for details.
