Cadet Weekend – 19th -21st October
The weekend started great, with the cadets turning out in force for some fun games on Friday afternoon, we started by splitting into 3 teams and each team played a game of either Mario Balloons, The Ball Game, and PacMan. After lunch we got the cadets back on the water to have a go at the remaining 2 games. It was difficult going with the very very light winds that Castle Loch Provided!!!
By 5pm we were all back on the shore, with our boats de-rigged and away for the night, and the Galley slaves provided us with a brilliant Pizza & Ice cream tea! None of us knew what to do when an argument broke out between Willie and Richard, with regards to the legend of the Castle Loch Treasure, and pirate Bill Bunworry, who has tried to steal the treasure in the past. As Willie finished telling us the story, Captain Bill Bunworry burst into the room, and after a tussle with Willie and Richard, he stole Max the dog – keeper of the key!
We rushed out to stop him and managed to find Max, but the key had gone!!!! A secret Agent then burst into the room and gave us a note from Bill Bunworry…..
The Cadets were told to go home and get a good rest – ready for the task ahead!!
The Cadets came back in force – ready for the task ahead and during the morning briefing the cadet captains found an envelope marked “Top Secret”, hidden on a rescue boat…. After listening to the cassette tape giving the cadets their “mission impossible” task, they jumped into their boats and headed off to collect coins from the coin boat to pay Agent X, who was waiting on the fishermans jetty, for a clue! After lunch the Mission impossible cadets read their clues and had to work out the riddle contained therein which would lead them to the next clue. 3 separate clues led to 3 bits of map which were then brought back to the clubhouse to be put together as a team…
where the Black Pearl would
Suddenly there was a cry of “Pirates” and there – just off the jetty was ….
The Black Pearl!!!!!..
The cadets rushed out of the clubhouse desperate to stop the treasure being lost forever … The cadets stole the treasure and attacked the pearl – winning the day, retrieving the treasure and sending Captain Bill Bunworry back to oblivion!!!!!!!!!!!
After returning to the clubhouse and de-rigging, the cadets were rewarded with a lovely dinner from the ladies in the Galley!!!!
Everyone had a brilliant time, and all we would all like to extend our thanks to cadet officer -Helen Coles and Willie Patterson – “the brains behind the weekend”, Steph and Carol for the food and everyone else who helped out in any way, shape or form!
